We’ve put together a list of commonly asked questions. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please get in touch.

Where is male concept barbers based?

The company is currently run from Chichester West Sussex.

How many franchisees do you have?

We started to franchise in November 2013 and we currently have branches operating in Lewes, Salsey, Horsham and our flagship store is in Chichester.

Is this business new?

The barber shop business concept has been around for many years in different forms, however the original traditional barbershop concept evolved into stores operated by anyone who could cut hair with the cheapest possible equipment and fittings. Our mission is to bring back the original barber shop experience with the provision of quality service where men can enjoy traditional male grooming services at an affordable price. The owners and founders of male concept barbers are personally involved in the business and will be hands on in the training, development and support of our franchisees.

Are your profit figures realistic?

Yes, all figures that we quote to our prospective franchisees are based on the actual performance of the business over a five-year period. Having said this, no franchisor can guarantee an individual franchisee’s success

How much capital is required?

The up-front fee is £30,000.00 and you will need funds for the shop-fit and equipment as well as working capital to cover the early growth of your business. We would recommend a total of £65,000.00 to start the business. Through our development consultants we can introduce you to the franchise departments of a number of the major banks.

What is the management service fee?

We believe that our franchisees must reap the rewards of their hard work, and therefore will not take a percentage of sales. We will charge a fixed rate which starts at £500 per month in the third month of trading, and then rises to £1000 per month over five years. This goes toward the extensive costs that male concept barbers incurs on behalf of its franchisees. These costs include franchise management, business development, ongoing training and support.

Is this a full time franchise?

Yes. We would expect our franchisees businesses to be operated to the same level of our pilot operation, however, a franchisee could take on more than one store and employ managers for the day to day operations while the franchisee concentrates on business development and customer relations.

Can I talk to your franchisees?

Yes but only after we have conducted an interview to ensure that both you and we are happy that this is the right business for you. You will then be free to speak to our franchisees and spend time with our head office staff or one of our franchisees, providing we are happy with your application.

Will I need a computer?

Yes, while we do not prescribe a specific point of sale system, we would expect franchisees to use a computer for business management and communication.

Do I need to be a barber?

You do not need to be a barber in order to run the business as you will have suitably qualified barbers providing the services to your customers. You will need the ability to communicate well, manage a team, enjoy meeting people and have lots of energy and enthusiasm.

What services will I provide?
